CORTLAND FIGURE SKATING CLUB (09/01/09)
A. An ice monitor will be responsible for maintaining control of the session by checking that everyone on the ice has checked in, playing music, and monitoring “on ice” behavior to ensure a safe and productive session for skaters. A monitor is responsible for maintaining discipline and safety of our skaters at all times. B. Monitoring will be divided into half sessions. A monitor may sign-up for both sessions. A monitor will be give ½ credit for each half sessions. C. Please report serious injuries to the Sports Complex management on duty.
A monitor needs to arrive 15 minutes BEFORE club skating begins. It is your duty to have club skating flow as smoothly as possible. First Half Session: 1. Display your ID Badge; a. Visiting coaches must have in the portfolio their signed contract, if not, please hand them a blank contract and have them complete it first;5. Collect money for “Punch” passes, including the “Privilege” pass; 6. Please place money in metal drop box; 7. Welcome skaters and announce moves in the field (to last for ½ hour); 8. Verify music box is working; 9. Verify dance music is available; 10. Check time in order to announce freestyle (to last 45 minutes); 11. Hopefully, welcome second monitor. Second Half Session: 1. Display ID Badge;
The first monitor is responsible for the first 45 minutes, even though arriving 15 minutes earlier, which will consist of: Sunday: First Monitor: 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Monday: First Monitor: 7:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday: First Monitor: 7:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday: First Monitor: 10:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Sunday: Moves: 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday: Moves: 7:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Wednesdays: Moves: 7: 15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Saturdays: Moves: 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
II. RULES The monitor shall enforce the rules of etiquette signed by each skater and coach. Any skater who has been given multiple warnings will be reported to the board of directors. Please remind skaters: 1. No horseplay, tag, etc is permitted during Cortland Figure Skating Club sessions. 2. No eating, drinking or chewing gum on the ice. Only plastic drink/water bottles are allowed at the boards. Skaters are asked to place tissues in the hockey box. Please remember to be neat and discard all trash property. 3. Skaters may not work together in groups larger than 2, without prior board approval. 4. Skaters should not stand around chatting on the ice. If the skaters want to rest or talk with parents or friends, they should leave the ice. 5. If a skater falls and is not injured, they should get up immediately.
It is the responsibility of the monitor to find coverage for the spot volunteered for. Please do not leave it to the board to find coverage for you.
Cortland Figure Skating Club appreciates every person who volunteers to help continue the success of our club thereby rewarding the volunteer for each half session completed. For those who volunteer during the period of 9/20/09 through 12/31/09: 5-8 full credits, a monitor will receive 1 child/1senior exhibition ticket;
