Congratulations to
Cortland Native David Mitchell & Loren Galler-Rabinowitz
2004 US National Bronze Medalists in Ice Dance

January 12, 2004.

Cortland native David Mitchell and longtime partner Loren Galler-Rabinowitz are the 2004 US Bronze Medalists in Ice Dance. Mitchell is a former member of both the Cortland Figure Skating Club and the Club’s Learn to Skate program.

Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto took home the gold medal at the 2004 US National Championships in Atlanta on January 9th. The silver medal went to the husband and wife team of Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov.

However, Galler-Rabinowitz and Mitchell, who finished fourth at the 2003 US Nationals, are the only team of the top three who are currently eligible for the 2006 Olympics in Turin, Italy. It has not been determined whether or not Belbin who is Canadian or Petukhov from Russia will gain US citizenship in time for the event.

Earlier this season, Galler-Rabinowitz and Mitchell finished ninth at their first-ever senior level Grand Prix event, Skate Canada. They moved up to finish seventh at the NHK Trophy. The pair, who have been skating together since 1999, placed 4th at the 2003 World Junior Figure Skating Championships. They are also the 2002 U.S. junior champions and 2000 novice champions.
